14-17 June 2007: Red Bull Empire of Dirt
The Empire of Dirt was a BMX event that couldn't be missed. It had a unique set up but rain destroyed the party and no riding at the course could be done to have a contest. Too bad. The contest has been postponed till next year. We will be there again.

22 August 2005
The 2005 FAT-JAM went super. It has turned into a real grass roots event where all riders can actually ride all day. There was no entry fee, no security, no time schedule, no "pro-only" jumps so anybody with a BMX bike had the chance to ride if they wanted to. It was a good change from all the big events that have been on the schedule all summer that had way too many restrictions for the average kid with a BMX bike looking to have some fun. Dirt on Saturday, good party with BMX videos, a band and DJ Nikolai at OJA on Saturday night and a fun mini ramp session on Sunday. Thanks to everyone for coming out. See you next year.

16 August 2005
FAT-JAM coming up this weekend. Theme: Heavy Metal!

15 August 2005
The Garden Of Vert event in Belgium went very well. Thanks to everybody who helped out to make it a success, especially the main sponsors (Freecaster/DC Shoes/Haro Bikes) and Family Geys from Overpelt.

5 August 2005
Everybody check out the www.gardenofvert.com website for all info on the Vert contest at Peter Geys' next weekend, co-organized by EBC.

1 August 2005
We have not visited many BMX races this year but if you visit one, it might as well be the biggest one out there. Last weekend we were in Paris for the UCI BMX Racing World Championships. They were held in the Bercy stadium and over 2300 riders participated. Bubba Harris won Elite Men in an exciting race with Mike Day finishing 2nd and Robert de Wilde in third. Full report on www.fatbmx.com.

30 July 2005
The BMX trails in Helmond were built today. It took a while but they are there to shred. Help build and use them. Location: Helmond-Noord

25 July 2005
We just finished judging the LG Action Sports Tour stop in Barcelona, Spain. Again a nice location (the beach), some great riding and fun times. Sounds like we're getting around this summer.

20 July 2005
The photo's on this site might be a little dated. Don't worry, we've been on the road a bunch this summer and have plenty of fresh ones. If you're looking for photographs, don't hesitate to contact EBC. We probably have what you are looking for in our extensive archive.

18 July 2005

From Berlin to France. We visited the 20/Oakley jam in Carmaux at the Cap Decouverte. Amazing park at an awesome location. We've got pics available if you are interested.

28 June 2005
Had a meeting with the local council of Helmond to check out a possible spot to build trails. Sounds like it's happening.

27 June 2005
The LG Action Sports tour has some great locations. The vert ramp was put on the Trocadero. From the judging tower you had the eiffel tower right in front of you. Sweet.

The vert prelims were awesome. Everyone kicked ass. If you pull great variations, tailwhips and a barspin 540 and finish 8th (Matt Fairbairn), you know how high the level was. Tabron won vert, Dave Dillewaard got first in "street".

24 June 2005
Today we're going to Cologne, Germany for the Suzuki BMX Masters. From there it's straight to Paris, France for another LG stop.

20 June 2005
Decided to give the LG Action Sports Tour a try by judging their event in Munich, Germany. The vert contest was good with great riders. The street course was bad but the riders present made it work anyway. The whole LG tour circus made you think you had landed in the USA but the Olympia park stadium in the background made you aware you were in Munich, not San Diego.

13 June 2005
Just got back from the Snickers Soul Bowl in England. The event was held at the Download festival in Donington where bands played such as Slayer, Black Sabbath (Ozzy included), Garbage, Billy Idol, Megadeth and many more. It was a cool event especially because a lot of legendary skateboarders did some demos in the wooden bowl. Tony Alva was there, Duane Peters, Steve Olsen, Mike McGill and Kevin Staab. Nice one!

The BMX contest was won by Matt Fairbairn. Judging this comp was hard.

6 June 2005
The first IBMXFF Nokia BMX Freestyle world's in Czech Republic went well. A good atmosphere, new terrain and great riding made for a good championship. Taking pictures with one hand (left) and the other arm in a sling, wasn't easy but we got some help from a bunch of contributors to get a decent report up on www.fatbmx.com. Thanks to all.

22 May 2005
On the upcoming Thursday Bart will undergo shoulder surgery. This will mean walking around with the right arm in a sling for 6 weeks and then rehabilitation after that for a few months. Picking up the phone, typing E-mails and writing down scores is still the plan for the upcoming weeks.

On 1 June it's off to Prague, Czech Republic for the next IBMXFF meeting followed by Pro judging duties at the World BMX Freestyle Championships.

On 8 June it's off to Donnington, UK for the Snickers Soul Bowl.

21 May 2005
Photoshoot with Patrick v.d. Berg in Boxmeer, Holland for Universal MX.

15 May 2005
Visited a MON championship race today. Took some pictures of the Universal Motocross riders. Universal MX is one of the customers of EBC. We're taking care of international sales and marketing. Visit www.universalmotocross.com for more info.

9 May 2005
Got back from the Deconstruction tour. Went from Amsterdam Holland, to Paris France, then to Trier, Germany. Next day we woke up in Winterthur, Switzerland and the tour bus brought us to Milan, Italy for the final stop. 5 days, 5 countries, good times with vert riders Simon Tabron, Zach Shaw, Ronnie Remo and Matt Fairbairn.

29 April
Took care of some announcing duties at the first stop of the Deconstruction Tour today. The BMX/Skate demos with Zach Shaw, Ronnie Remo, Simon Tabron and Matt Fairbairn on the BMX took place in Herne, Germany. More stops are on the program for next week (Paris, Trier, Winterthur, Milan).

9 April 2005
After catching up being away from my desk for a week, I made it over to Oberhausen, Germany for Achim Kujawski's [Verthaus] jam. 3 HARO riders made it over and Peter Geys (Haro Benelux) won the highest air trophy. Read the reports on www.fatbmx.com and www.harobikes.com (Global section).

If you're looking for halfpipe photo material please contact me at:
bart@europeanbmxconnection.com

3 April 2005
Missed my brother's Paul's Boutique 10 years anniversary and the mini FAT-JAM this weekend because I'm still in England. Nyquist killed it in street and won. He got second in the mini ramp contest. Pill, Hennon, Grosic and OBG all made finals at The Bike Show. It was a great week with the HARO team. Thanks to everyone for the good times.

Bart

2 April 2005
Have been taking loads of pictures all week. If you need any photos of the HARO tour or vert contest at the Bike Show, I can probably help. Did some interviews for the FATBMX website and stayed in touch with the site's sponsors that were present making sure they're happy.

1 April 2005
The first day of the Bike Show in Coventry. HARO Bikes have set up a booth and the complete HARO team is present to ride the halfpipe, street and spine contests. Jamie Gray from Australia is representing the HARO colours on the 4-X track. Good to meet up with all the industry people and riders.

31 March 2005
Next stop of the HARO UK tourr: Interact in Burnley. Great park that treated the HARO team very well. Lots of fun was had riding the bowl and the street course.

30 March 2005
Still on the road with the HARO freestyle team riders. We've landed in Liverpool at Ruff Ride, a park sponsored by Moore Large which has plenty of Haro and Premium Products logo placements all around the park. The perfect spot to shoot some ads. Chris Woodage has been hired to shoot photos for the HARO UK ads and he's providing the pictures for RIDE magazine too. A private session during the day and public riding session at night.

29 March 2005
The 20 passenger white tour van has the following people on board: Ryan Nyquist (USA), Ben Shenker (Hungary), Stefan Geisler (Germany), Senad Grosic (Austria), Anthony Pill (UK), Ben Manuel (UK), Ben Hennon (UK) and Moore Large's Adam Garner. I'm the driver for the tour so wish me luck. Wrong side of the road, shifting with the wrong hand and reading the road map.....

Visited the Upton park and the Worx park in Leeds today. Good riding sessions with plenty of cameras capturing the HARO action.

28 March 2005
The HARO UK tour starts today. Leaving for Birmingham tonight to meet up with the people from Moore Large, the HARO distributor in the UK, and some of the HARO team riders.

14 March 2005
Visited HARO Benelux distributor Verwimp B.V. today. They had their open house and also displayed the 2005 HARO BMX race, freestyle and mountain bikes. HARO Bikes have been a customer for EBC for over three years.

12 March 2005

Today I visited the hospital to have my shoulder checked. It popped out three times in January and it needs to be fixed. This will happen on 26 May 2005 when it will be operated upon by Dr. Hoekstra in Geldrop, Holland. If the typing shows some errors right after that, it's because I'll be typing with my left hand only.

EBC has taken on www.FATBMX.com as a customer starting from 1 January 2005. The already popular BMX website now has daily updates which makes it more interesting for everyone to come back and check for new content. Take a look yourself, it's an example what EBC can possibly do for your company. Websites are only great if you have something to offer.
